Chinese Name Check (chinesenamecheck.com) is a free checker for a Chinese name you already have. This page is the whole policy.

What we collect

When you run a check we store the Chinese characters, the optional English name, the verdict, and a timestamp. That is how the result stays on the page and how the longer report can be unlocked.

If you type an email, we store it with that check so we can reveal the written report. Email is for that unlock only. We do not send mail, newsletters, or sequences. There is no third-party email API on this MVP.

If you leave an email on the Get a name page, we store it as a waitlist note in the same store. Same rule: stored, not mailed.

Where it lives

On a local machine, submissions and waitlist emails are JSON files under data/. On Vercel they are stored in a private Blob store so deploys do not wipe rows. Emails are not written to application logs. This is still an MVP store, not a customer data platform. Do not paste secrets or other people's private data into the form.

What we do not do

We do not sell lists. We do not run ads against your name. We do not require an account. We do not claim live community voting. A model vendor key is optional: the free checker still returns a rule-engine verdict without one.

Analytics

If you allow analytics in the consent notice, Google Analytics receives page views and product events such as a completed check, report unlock, or click to the naming studio. We do not send the Chinese name, English name, or email address to Analytics. If you decline, the Analytics script is not loaded.

The model, when it is on

If AI_GATEWAY_API_KEY or OPENAI_API_KEY is set, we send the submitted name, optional English name, and the already-computed signals to a model. That call only rewrites the explanation, and may turn a Fix into a Kill. Keep is never granted by the model. Prompts are not stored in our Blob, but the model provider processes the submitted text under its own service terms.

Retention and deletion

Checks and report-unlock emails remain in the private store until they are deleted. You may request deletion through the parent brand; include the email used to unlock a report so we can locate the row.
